Overview
The original PayPal interface for sending money had usability gaps, especially in managing card
details and confirming transactions. The redesign focused on streamlining user actions across three
core flows - adding a new card, selecting payment recipients, and sending money. I built a fully
functional high-fidelity prototype to demonstrate intuitive navigation, responsive design, and
instant visual feedback.
My Role
Users faced unclear steps when adding new cards or selecting payment methods
Mobile users experienced layout breakage and form clutter
No real-time feedback or confirmation messages after completing a step
Complex flows led to low confidence and hesitation to complete money transfers
Problem
Flow Mapping & Gap Analysis – Reviewed current flows and documented bottlenecks
Wireframing – Created low- and mid-fidelity layouts with simplified step-by-step UI
Prototyping – Designed a high-fidelity clickable prototype showing 3 key flows
User Testing – Gathered feedback on responsiveness, pop-up interactions, and flow clarity
Iterated UI – Final design improved button placement, messaging, and responsiveness
Process
The redesigned prototype introduced a smoother send money flow with clearer CTAs, simplified
navigation, and contextual pop-ups to reduce errors. It received positive feedback for
mobile-friendliness and showed reduced cognitive load during usability tests. Users were able to
complete flows 20–30% faster compared to the original.
Outcome
Prioritizing flow hierarchy improves usability significantly in transactional systems
Real-time feedback (even as simple as a pop-up) boosts user confidence
Designing with a mobile-first mindset uncovers layout issues early in the process
Key Learnings
I led the end-to-end UX redesign as an individual contributor. My role included flow analysis,
wireframing, prototyping in Figma, and usability testing. I also worked on refining interaction
patterns, ensuring responsive design compatibility, and optimizing micro-interactions like
pop-ups and confirmation messages.
